I entered our first challenge in September, 2009 and have been 80%/20% ever since. After the first month, I took it one day at a time. What I began to realize was, if I had an illness, and needed to be on a particular medicine for the rest of my life, I would do that. Why should I not take care of myself in a pro-active way? So, instead of saying I can't eat this or that, I started saying this is how I eat.
Last year, my goal for our challenge was to eliminate dairy. I actually found that harder than the original challenge. I didn't realize how often I added cheese to things! After that challenge, I did go back to adding cheese now and then, but not nearly like I used to.
I have lost most of the weight I had gradually kept on after having each of my children, and feel better than ever - tons of energy, no spikes & crashes, no sugar headaches!
Toward the end of this summer, I realized our schedule was changing at home, and I was not consistent with my meal planning and therefore, not eating enough. My goal for this challenge was to get back to a "plan ahead/prepare ahead" regiment. I have been happily successful, (and consequently so is the rest of the family!). Hearing everyone's ideas, challenges, struggles and encouragement, and seeing the positive progress as we made our way further into this challenge has just reinforced what a good life choice primal eating has been for me.
My congratulations to everyone who has entered this challenge. Just making the attempt toward positive changes in lifestyle is so important and doing so with the support and encouragement of others with the same ideals is fantastic! Grok on CFG!
